Dr Sarah Temple

I’m Dr Sarah Temple, an author, coach and retired family doctor. Throughout more than 35 years working in General Practice and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, I have remained fascinated by the relationship between our early experiences, emotional wellbeing and lifelong physical and mental health.

My interest began at medical school in the 1980s, where I was fortunate to be mentored by a professor of child psychiatry and carried out research into how adversity can affect families across generations. Since then, I have worked with children, young people, parents, adults, professionals and service leaders—helping people understand the emotions and stress responses that can sit beneath behaviour.

I created Mindful Emotion Coaching to bring together this experience with contemporary neuroscience, trauma-informed practice and personalised care. Through EHCAP, I provide accredited coach training, private coaching and consultation for health, education and care professionals, families, people living with long-term conditions, and teams developing innovative services.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: people are more able to grow and make changes when they first feel heard, understood and emotionally safe. My aim is to make complex science accessible and useful, giving people a shared language and practical tools that strengthen connection, emotional regulation and wellbeing.

I am also the author of All Emotions Are OK, Emotions and Feelings, Acceptance and Stress Rewired. Each reflects my commitment to helping people understand themselves and one another with greater compassion, curiosity and hope.

Professional Background & Scope of Practice

I am a qualified medical professional, registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK as a non-practising medical practitioner (Registered without a Licence to Practise). Having retired from clinical practice, I operate exclusively as a professional coach.

Please be aware that my coaching services are strictly non-clinical. I do not provide medical advice, psychiatric assessment, clinical diagnosis, or medical treatment, nor do I prescribe medication or interface with statutory medical services.

My coaching is focused entirely on personal development, strategic guidance, and mentoring. It is not a substitute for professional medical care, psychotherapy, or mental health counseling. If you require medical or psychiatric attention, you must consult your GP or an actively practicing, licensed clinical specialist
